Duty of a Toastmaster.
On the day of the wedding the Toastmaster:
- Liais with the venue coordinator to confirm timings and wedding arrangements
- Checks in with the Registrar and confirms arrangements
- Checks that the Bride is happy
- Escorts the Bridegroom and Best Man to Registrar
- Returns the Bridegroom and Best Man to the gathered guests
- Briefs the guests of the day’s itinerary
- Escorts the Bride to the Registrar
- Invites guests to be seated
- Supports Registrar as required
- At end of ceremony invites guests to partake of refreshments
- Helps photographer coordinate photographs
- Confirms when venue manager is ready for guests to be seated for Wedding Breakfast
- Invites guests to be proceed to the dining area to be seated
- Announces Bride and Bridegroom and processes them to their seats
- Makes any announcements as required
- The Wedding Breakfast starts
- After desert and the toasting glasses are filled (usually after coffee is served) introduces speeches (Bride’s Father - Bridegroom - Best Man and others as requested)
- Introduces the cutting of the cake (this could take place after the room is cleared for the dancing in case which the Toastmaster will request folk to leave the venue).
- Manages the bridal ‘bouquet launch’ (if taking place)
- Confirms that the venue to prepared for dancing and DJ is ready to start
- Asks guests to re-enter the venue
- If the cake cutting takes place before the dancing the Toastmaster will announce this
- Announce the first dance - this could either be the Bride and Bridegroom or Bride and Bride’s father
- Official Toastmaster duties end at this point.
